Creosote buildup from heavy winter burning
Why it happens here
Maywood winters are long and snowy, and many homeowners burn two or more cords of wood per season. Slow, damped-down fires produce the most creosote. By February, a flue that was clean in October can have a quarter-inch of glaze.
Our approach
We sweep annually and treat glazed creosote with a creosote sweeping log before brushing. We use a Sooteater rotary system to break up the glaze, then verify with an inspection camera. If the glaze is severe, we schedule a follow-up.
