Creosote buildup from frequent wood burning
Why it happens here
Englewood winters are long and cold, so homeowners burn fires daily. Cooler flue temperatures cause creosote to condense on the flue walls. Oak and maple, common firewood here, produce more creosote than softer woods.
Our approach
We sweep the flue thoroughly with a chimney brush and rods. We use a creosote sweeping log between professional cleanings to reduce buildup. We also teach customers how to burn hotter fires to minimize creosote.
